MutantElec is a Web application for in silico generation of site-directed mutagenesis of proteins and the comparation of electrostatic potential between the wild type protein and the mutant.

The MutantElec system provides a user friendly web interface, allowing users to predict the importance of some amino acid in the activity of the protein through the changes in the electrostatic potential and allow to predict which will be the effect in the distribution of charges in the surface of the proteins when carrying out a punctual mutation.

This produces a great advantage, since it allows to design the mutation experiments that will be carried out in the wet laboratory, guiding the election of the amino acid change saving costs in time and resources
